“I signed at like the last possible minute,” recalls Angela Yee. She describes joining the Power 105.1 morning show like an NBA superstar going through free agency. Yee interrupts herself with giddy laughter as she reminisces once thinking this may not have been the best move for her career. Three years later and the Breakfast Club can’t seem to lose. With syndication in dozens of markets throughout the United States and an upcoming foray into television (Revolt TV), its clear the amount of talent between Angela Yee, DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God was never a cause for worry. However, there were more troublesome issues to deal with upon the trio’s inception. “That was the most important thing—what is the name of this morning show? One of the names [we] came up with was The Big Three. That was when LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh did the whole Miami thing (laughs). But then we were like what if they don’t win [any] championships? We don’t wanna be the big three then. And who’s Chris Bosh…Charlamagne.”
